Considering the high rate of unemployment in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono, this project plans to offer in-company training 1000 young people. The focus will be on the life skills and entrepreneurship skills of young people, holistic training which will prepare the young people for (self-)employment.

Lack of vocational qualifications and high youth unemployment are key problems in Uganda. The project aims to build on the success of Phase One of the project which successfully built the training capacity of 73 small enterprises in the greater Kampala area. The project targets young people who migrate from structurally weak, rural areas of Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono and often have hardly any significant formal qualifications and no evidence of employment-relevant skills and competencies.    WHH in partnership with USSIA and KIFAD will build on the already existing structures in the areas of Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono to strengthen project implementation and sustainability in phase II.
